Three topics I'm concerned about as a graphic designer:
Labor and Creative Equity: There is a strong AI threat to replace parts of the creative workforce, which is concerning as a designer who is beginning her creative career.
Authorship/Originality: AI blurs the boundaries between creation and generation. Designers must now consider who owns an AI-generated image or layout (the designer, the model, or the dataset?) and how we can ensure our work maintains originality when AI tools are trained on existing copyrighted material.
Aesthetics: AI is shaping a new visual language, one that tends toward homogeneity. So a concern exists in questioning if our visual world will become filled with the same AI aesthetics (overly smooth, perfect, hyperreal) and how as designers we can push back, using AI critically instead of passively.
