1. Human Connection
Architecture is fundamentally about people — how they experience space, interact with environments, and connect with one another. As I integrate AI into my creative process, I’m cautious about whether the output still supports and enhances human-centered design. AI can generate intriguing forms, but can it anticipate emotional impact, spatial comfort, or social interaction?
Why I chose it:
In an increasingly automated workflow, preserving the human element is vital. I want to ensure that while AI aids in generating massing or visual forms, the core values of empathy, accessibility, and community remain central. I aim to explore how AI tools might simulate or inform human behavior in space — like movement flow or comfort — to strengthen, not replace, human-centered thinking.
2. Informed Consent
Many AI tools, especially generative models, are trained on massive datasets scraped from public and sometimes private sources. This raises ethical concerns, especially in a field like architecture, where design ideas are often shared online and could be absorbed into a training dataset without permission.
Why I chose it:
Using tools like Midjourney or RunwayML makes me question: Whose work am I unconsciously building on? Are the forms AI suggests derivative of someone else's ideas? As a designer, I want to ensure my work — and the work I draw from — is ethically sourced. This also leads me to consider the future: if I train models on my own sketches, how do I give or restrict consent to others using those models?
3. Originality
AI-generated design can easily veer into stylistic repetition or imitation. If the same prompts are used by multiple designers, will the outputs become homogenous? In a discipline like architecture, where innovation and contextual specificity are essential, this challenges the notion of originality.
Why I chose it:
I’m interested in whether AI can truly help me generate original ideas — or whether it simply blends existing styles in
